About Naomi

Hi, I’m Naomi Bloom. I’m a depth psychotherapist, teacher, and writer who’s spent the last 20 years helping people navigate their most honest questions. My work bridges clinical training with wisdom traditions, plainspoken care with psychological depth. I don’t believe in pretending we’re fine—or in rushing to fix what’s not ready to move. Instead, I work with people and communities to create space for clarity, meaning, and forward motion.

My Story

I grew up in the Midwest, reading under trees and asking big questions early. I’ve always had one foot in the world of ordinary life—raising kids, walking the dog, cleaning out the fridge—and the other in the realm of soul, psyche, and meaning.

Over the last two decades, I’ve practiced as a psychotherapist, worked with thousands of people at life’s thresholds, and studied everything from Jungian depth psychology to Buddhist philosophy to intergenerational trauma repair. My approach is rooted in warmth, discernment, and a refusal to treat people like checklists or diagnoses.

I started You Are Here because I saw the ache for something real. Something grounded. Something that doesn’t just skim the surface of change but meets it with reverence and clarity. Whether I’m working with individuals, groups, or entire communities, I aim to bring presence, language, and a map that makes the road ahead feel less lonely.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me in a used bookstore, walking my dogs, or overanalyzing a single sentence in a novel I’ve already read five times. I believe in honesty, ritual, and the power of sitting with what’s real—until something true emerges.

Influences and Favorites

Books & Ideas That Shaped Me
I’ve been changed by Women Who Run With the Wolves and comforted by The Red Book. I return to Rilke when I need to remember how to speak gently to the unspeakable. Depth psychology, Buddhist ethics, and Midwestern practicality are the core triad of my worldview.

Films I Love
Give me Melancholia for existential awe, Amélie for whimsy and wonder, and Contact for spiritual science fiction. I like movies that leave you staring at the ceiling afterward.

Signature Habits
I wear an analog watch, because time deserves reverence. I collect blazers and books—objects of form and function. I always have fresh flowers in the house, not for display, but because life is short and beauty is fuel.

First Car
A Chevy Celebrity, shared with my sister. It rattled like a truth half-spoken but got us where we were going.

Small Pleasures
Deep laughter. Thoughtful questions. A good sentence that rearranges something in your chest. Yellow is my favorite color—the color of madness, joy, and warning signs. It keeps things honest.
