Couples Intensive
When You're Ready to Rebuild, Not Repeat
You’ve given it time.
You’ve tried what you know.
The pattern hasn’t changed.
If you’re having the same arguments, feeling increasing distance, or questioning the future of your relationship, more insight alone won’t interrupt the cycle.
The Couples Intensive is a structured relational consultation designed to identify exactly why your dynamic persists — and what must change to alter it.
Grounded in over 20 years of psychodynamic clinical practice and tens of thousands of hours working with couples, this model integrates depth psychology with structured relational frameworks, including Gottman Method training. While offered as a consultation rather than ongoing psychotherapy, it is deeply informed by advanced relational pattern recognition and developmental insight.
This is concentrated clarity.
The Structure
The Couples Intensive includes:
• Customized pre-interview questionnaires
• Five structured interviews
– Three 90-minute joint sessions
– One 90-minute individual session with each partner
• One 90-minute joint feedback session
• A detailed written Map of Your Relationship
Alternate formats are available:
• Two extended interview days + separate feedback session
• A single full-day assessment + separate feedback session
The structure is flexible. The rigor is not.
This format is intentionally designed for efficiency, precision, and depth.
What We Identify
During this process, we clarify:
• Your recurring conflict cycle (“the dance”)
• How each partner contributes to the pattern
• Each partner’s key wounds and how they shape reactions
• The defenses each of you rely on — and what they are protecting
• How your defenses interact and escalate
• Where resentment originates and how it accumulates
• What specifically requires repair
• What real repair looks like — beyond perfunctory apologies
• Your strengths as a couple
• Where reinvention and growth are required
This is not communication advice.
It is structural relational mapping.
What You Receive
During the 90-minute feedback session, you are presented with your written Map of Your Relationship — a structured relational blueprint designed for clarity and behavioral change.
At the center of the Map is The Thread: a clear narrative of how your relationship evolved into its current form — how each partner’s history, wounds, and defensive adaptations intertwined to create the present dynamic. The Thread connects past adaptations to current reactions and clarifies what future you are building if nothing changes.
The Map includes:
• A detailed cycle map of your conflict pattern
• Identification of each partner’s key wounds
• Defense mapping and interaction analysis
• Conflict style breakdown with corrective behavioral direction
• A De-Escalation Protocol (for high-conflict “fire” couples)
• “Getting Unfrozen” guidance (for emotionally distant “ice” couples)
• A structured Repair Protocol
• A SWOT analysis of your relationship
• Individual growth recommendations for each partner
• A joint behavioral growth plan
• An Immunization Plan to prevent relapse into old patterns
• A forward vision for renewal and evolution
This is not a list of suggestions.
It is a relational blueprint.
How This Differs From Weekly Couples Therapy
Weekly therapy unfolds gradually and often prioritizes emotional processing and support.
The Couples Intensive compresses months of insight into a concentrated format. Through structured assessment and targeted interviews, we identify relational architecture directly and concisely.
Because this is a consultation model, the feedback is precise, efficient, and unambiguous.
You leave with clarity — not an open loop.
Who This Is For
This intensive is well-suited for couples who:
• Feel stuck in the same arguments
• Experience frequent conflict (“fire”) or chronic distance (“ice”)
• Have tried therapy without sufficient movement
• Are navigating a significant transition
• Are discerning the future of their relationship
• Have recently experienced a rupture
• Want actionable change and pattern interruption
• Value direct, structured feedback
Who This Is Not For
This format is not appropriate for couples in which one or both partners are psychologically unstable, in acute crisis, or where there is active abuse or coercive control.
This is not ongoing psychotherapy.
Why Now
Resentment accumulates quietly.
Emotional distance hardens.
Repeated patterns erode trust.
Most couples wait too long.
By the time help is sought, patterns are entrenched and harder to interrupt.
Your relationship affects your mental health, your work, your children, and your physical well-being. Waiting narrows the window for meaningful repair.
This process is designed to stop the bleed, interrupt the cycle, and provide a clear structural path forward.
Time is precious.
If This Sounds Familiar
If you’re having the same fight on repeat…
If you feel lonely in your own relationship…
If you’ve tried what you know and it hasn’t worked…
If you sense something structural is wrong but can’t name it…
Then this intensive may be the right next step.
Begin with a complimentary 30-minute consultation to determine fit.
If it’s right, we move forward with structure, clarity, and purpose.
Recognize This?
The same argument resurfaces, even when you promise it won’t.
You feel disconnected, even when you’re sitting in the same room.
You’ve applied what you know — and the pattern remains.
You can tell something deeper is driving the conflict, but you can’t quite define it.
If this feels familiar, the Couples Intensive may be an appropriate next step.
Schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation to determine fit.
If it’s aligned, we proceed with clarity and direction.
How It Works (and Who It's For)
You don't have to keep repeating this.
Your relationship is important to you, waiting will not improve it. Patterns that are not examined tend to deepen not disappear.
The Couples Intensive is designed for couples who are ready to understand the structure of their dynamic and change it with intention. You will leave with clarity, a plan, and a defined path forward.
If you’re willing to look directly and work deliberately, begin with a complimentary 30-minute consultation. We’ll determine whether this format is the right next step — and if it is, we move forward with structure and purpose.
